Educational Experience on the Galaxie Sailboat: Science, Technology and Marine Conservation

Last Saturday, January 25, Love the Mediterranean offered a unique experience to participants in the Kio the Sea Horse Contest, organized by the NGO Creatives For the Planet, by making the sailboat Galaxie, whose base port is Marina Eivissa, available. This day served to combine environmental education, reflection and marine technology, in order to promote awareness about the protection of our oceans.

The activity began with the reading of the story Kio, the Seahorse, a story that invited the children to reflect on the importance of caring for the sea. Each child shared their vision of the story, which allowed for a dialogue to be generated about the value of marine ecosystems. marine and the importance of its preservation.

On board the Galaxie, the day continued with direct observation of Posidonia in a bay near Marina Ibiza. Using an underwater viewer, participants were able to see this plant, which is essential for the health of the sea, up close. In addition, a net and litter collection activity was carried out, a reminder of how small actions can make a big difference in conservation.

A key aspect of this experience was the use of innovative technologies for environmental protection. The sailboat, with its electric engine, sailed without emitting pollution or generating noise, which helps to minimize the impact on the ecosystem. The Fifish drone was also presented, an advanced tool for mapping the seabed, identifying waste and studying the conditions of the environment, which allows more effective conservation interventions to be planned.

This day not only allowed participants to learn about the sea and its challenges, but also highlighted how science and technology can be key allies in protecting the Mediterranean.
